Nebraska Looks at Limiting Access to Cold Medications
Monday January 3, 2005
Nebraska lawmakers are looking at a proposal to limit access to over-the-counter cold medications which can be used to make methamphetamine by requiring them to be sold only in pharmacies and kept locked up behind the counter. The proposal has drawn fire from Tim Butz, executive director of Nebraska's UCLA, who said, "It shouldn't be the government's business who needs cold medicine." However, a similar law in Oklahoma has drastically decreased the number of meth labs in the state.
