Unprecedented Study Maps Genes Linked to Alcoholism

In a genetic study of unprecedented scope, researchers have used new genomic technology to indentify human genes in people most at risk for developing alcoholism, which could revolutionize treatment and prevention options. Researchers at the Molecular Neurobiology Branch of the National Institute on Drug Abuse report that their comprehensive scan of the human genome is the first time the new technology has been used to comprehensively indentify genes linked to substance abuse.
