How Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Is Diagnosed

Not every child affected by prenatal alcohol exposure has all of the symptoms of fetal alcohol syndrome. Some who have none of the facial features or growth deficiencies associated with the condition can have severe damage to their central nervous system. Therefore the term "fetal alcohol spectrum disorders" is used to cover a large range of effects that can occur in a child whose mother drank alcohol during pregnancy. Read more...
