Lindsay Lohan Ordered to Jail, Rehab

If you think driving while intoxicated is acceptable. If you think being ordered to attend DUI school is a joke. If you think society has not had enough of dangerous drunk drivers, remember this face. It's the face of Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan finding out that she is going to jail for 90 days and then to residential treatment for another 90 days.

Judge Marsha N. Revel, at a probation violation hearing in Los Angeles, decided she had heard enough of the lies and excuses from Miss Lohan.

Judge Revel ruled that Lohan had violated the terms of her probation on a drunken driving conviction by failing to attend alcohol education classes on a weekly basis. The judge heard evidenced during the hearing that Lohan had failed to show up on at least nine different occasions for her weekly classes.

Missed Too Many Classes

She also pointed to several times since 2007 when Lohan had outright lied to authorities about her drinking and drugging.

"It's like someone who cheats but doesn't think it's cheating if they don't get caught," Revel said.

Although the alcohol education program director testified that Lohan was "absolutely on track" to complete the program, she also admitted that Lohan had missed nine weekly sessions. Judge Revel criticized the program operator for not reporting Lohan's absences to the court at an earlier hearing.

SCRAM Device Not a Factor

Judge Revel said she was not taking the alert from Lohan's alcohol-detection device on June 6 into consideration in her decision to send the "Mean Girls" actress to jail. The device reported an alert on the night of the MTV Awards.

Although the device triggered an alert, a subsequent blood-alcohol test showed no alcohol at all in Lohan's system.

She was ordered to wear the device at a hearing on May 24, after Lohan failed to show up the previous week for a mandatory progress review. The actress was at the Cannes Film Festival in France and allegedly lost her passport.

Lohan Pleds for Another Chance

At the hearing, Lohan told Judge Revel that she was doing her best to meet her probation requirements.

"I wasn't trying to get special treatment," she said. "I have to provide for myself. I have to work. Having said that, I did everything to balance my jobs and showing up. I'm not taking this as a joke. It's my life. It's my career. ... I take responsibility for my actions. I've tried to do the best I can. It's been such a long haul, I don't want you to think that I don't respect you."

Ironically, friends of Lohan recently reported that she had cleaned up her act in recent weeks and was getting serious about staying sober and was "ready for a change" in her life.

Apparently, it was too little, too late for Judge Revel. She ordered Lohan to surrender in her courtroom at 8:30 a.m. on July 20.

It’ll never happen! I don’t seem to think so. If it does, they’ll do her like they did Paris Hilton-give her a special cell and let her serve half her sentence. If she does the 90 day in jail and 90 days in rehab-I’ll be surprised.

I hope that she does serve the whole 90 days. Any other person would have been there alot longer than that. Celebrities think that they can get away with it and it’s not their fault, it’s the judges fault that give into it. Were is the justice? I thought that judges are suppose to go by the law not how popular you are or how much money you have.

The jail is too crowded and she will only serve about 20% of her sentence. This sentence is designed to scare the little girl. The judge knows full well that she will not spend the whole sentence in jail. Her punishment is going to be the same as, well you know the little blonde haired bimbo with the bug-eyed dog? Oh yea, Paris.

I think that the biggest factor in this all is as popular as she is her legal issues are as popular. Young people everywhere who have idolized this young lady now can see the severe consequences of this type of behavior. My hope for her is that she recieves the intense treatment she needs to be able to live a more healthy lifestyle. Yes she has many talents and is a great actress but what about that sufferring little girl inside that is hurting and drinks and uses drugs to mask her pain. Get the help you need and work on you and put down your star status your being wreckless with your life.

It nice to hear she was order for alcohol education classes, but not good to hear the excuses of not attending. The denial sound like is still their and what it takes for some people to realize what alcohol real is about. Some people it sinks in and others when it is too late
I wish her all the best regardless if it sinks in or not.It is really up to her and hers alone.
