Private Chat Function
With the recent installation of the updated ParaChat software here at About.com, visitors now have the ability to open a private chat window to chat privately with another visitor.And it's easy to open a private chat window. To do so just type this:
Instead of Username you would of course type the nickname of the chatter with whom you wish to chat privately. The nickname must be typed exactly as it appears in the User Info frame on the right. The other chatter will have to type *priv Yourname in order for the private window to appear on their screen.*priv Username
Chatting in the private chat room prevents you from accidently posting a message to the screen that was intended to be private. For those of you who have been using other private chat software, but like the features of the Java-based ParaChat, this new feature gives you the best of both worlds.
