Definition: An event, usually lead by an experience professional counselor, at which family members and friends confront an alcoholic or problem drinker with the reality of his problem with the intent to try to get the alcoholic to seek help.
Also Known As: Intervening
Examples: Because he continued to drink after developing serious health problems, his family decided to conduct an intervention.
