A directory for dual diagnosis of co-occurring mental illness and substance disorder treatment programs is now available on the internet.

Kathleen Sciacca, of Sciacca Comprehensive Service Development for MIDAA, has developed the directory on her Dual Diagnosis web site, which was one of the first sites on the Internet focusing on resources and information for dually diagnosed patients and treatment providers.

The Dual Diagnosis Program Directory includes both national and international entries. The form on the site allows visitors to search for treatment services in their area, and also allows providers of those services to add their services to the list.

Finding Help

"Numerous clients and their family members inquire about the location of treatment services on a daily basis," Sciacca said. "Their requests frequently include frustration regarding their efforts in trying to locate appropriate help. The directory is intended to facilitate their search."

"Please pass this information along to other dual diagnosis service providers who may add their progams," she said. "You may also link the directory to your web page and repeat this notice to announce it to others."

The directory data base can be searched by families, clients and providers who are seeking services. There is no fee for either adding a program or searching and retrieving information.
