Definition: Most drunk driving charges are misdemeanor offenses, but most states file felony charges under certain situations, such as for repeat or habitual offenses or if someone is killed as a result of driving while impaired.
Also Known As: Felony DWI, Felon Drunk Driving
Examples: Because it was his fourth arrest for driving under the influence, he was charged with a felony.
