I am thankful to the Al-Anon program for opening its doors to me and accepting and loving me with no questions asked. Even when I screw up and try to sabotage myself, the group reaches out to me and helps me pick myself back up or gently slaps me back into line!

I wasn't always grateful before, when my higher power had to take steps to drag me screaming and kicking back onto the right track, especially when he chose to use other people to do it!

Finding the Way Back

But my attitude has changed some in that area and I am thankful that I have a program that gives me the tools to show me the way back, when I find that I have lost my way. But sometimes I get in one of those moods when I just want to feel sorry for myself, you know? And other times it just comes over me, whether I want it to or not.

Someone in the program told me once when that happens, to force myself to sit down and write out a graditude list. It is amazing how that really works, when I remember to work it!
