You will likely get a response similar to the ones that we have gotten here at the About.com Alcoholism / Substance Abuse site when we have published warnings about marijuana's possible negative effects. The following responses are edited excerpts from emails, personal recovery stories and comments posted on this site when we asked "Has Smoking Marijuana Affected Your Health?" and we suggested that "Marijuana Causes Many Deaths Reported as 'Accidents'."

After about 18 hours I got anxious feeling and decided I just needed a toke to settle my nerves. I searched my entire house hoping that I could find some stash that I got paranoid and hid away and forgot about. But no luck. I even searched my sister's room. I know she's got some weed somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
I even searched her underware drawer (eeeeew!). That's when she walked in and caught me. Now she thinks I'm a perv.
Then I checked all the places where I once kept my weed - match boxes, dad's old film canisters, plastic bags - looking for a bit of residue I could light up. I even tried to scrape the residue in the bowl of my bong and hit it, but that didn't do anything for me.
Next I texted all my friends trying to find somebody who would admit they were holding, but nobody stepped up. I called a few that I knew had some stashed away and they lied to my face and said they were searching too. I screamed at my best friend, "The last time you ran out, I helped you out, man! I know you have something laying around!"
I accidently texted my mom. She replied wanting to know what a spliff was. Awkward!
Then I got in the car and frantically drove all over town looking to buy some weed on the street. But my regular contacts had crack, smack and oxy, but no weed. I drove to some neighborhoods where I have never been before and don't want to go again and finally found a dude with a couple of blunts. I paid three times what I normally would, but that's cool, I finally scored.
I lit one up in the car and by the time I got home I was chillin' and looking for the Cheetos. You can't tell me marijuana is addictive. It's not as bad as alcohol!
All I know is I'm 15 years old and I've been smoking for three years and I'm in perfect health, except sometimes I have this really deep cough. But you would get a cough whatever you smoked, right? I don't sleep as well on the days I don't smoke pot, and I get headaches, but that's not a big deal. At least it's not as bad as alcohol.
I gots a god brian. U peepl wish thate u hahd the abilliiteis that i du wen i smok reefer. it sure ain't as bad as alkohol.
Marijuana is for sure addictive, but so are cheeseburgers and donuts. I won't be able to sleep well for 1 or 2 days, won't want to eat much for a few days, and the cold/hot flashes go away after a day or two. But I'm absolutely fine. If the symptoms do get too intense, I'll just smoke a bowl. No problem!
Whatever the withdrawal symptoms of marijuana are, they are surely not as bad as alcohol!
If you say these people have died form it then you should by all means tell us who has died. I have never even heard of people getting sick form smoking marijuana. How can you put this info on the web and not be able to give real facts. No one has ever died from smoking marijuana. Look it up!
Oh, wait. You said smoking weed can cause accidents that result in deaths. Oh. Never mind. Anyway, it doesn't cause as many accidents as alcohol.
We often hear how weed is a gateway drug. What a load of bull. The first time I tried marijuana, I was drunk! Alcohol is the biggest gateway drug in society and its legal!
