Enabling QuizOften well-meaning efforts to help someone with an alcohol or drug problem actually empowers them to continue their destructive behavior by allowing them to avoid the consequences of their actions. This is called "enabling." The following questions are designed to help you decide whether or not your actions and reactions to the alcoholic might be enabling. Although the questions refer to an "alcoholic" and "him" you can substitute "addict" and "her" because the principles are the same.
