How long were you in rehab?
28 day residential stay. 6/19/08 - 7/16/08
What was the most helpful feature of rehab?
Being separated from my comfort zone of home and being institutionalized with other fellow alcoholics. Having other alcoholics whom I was in treatment with help me see my addictive behaviors through the peer evaluation sessions which I thought was awesome.
Advice
- The most important thing I learned from my stay was that I was powerless over alcohol and that my life was unmanageable. The first step in the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous was the beginning of my recovery process. Knowing that my lifetime goals that I had for myself could not/would not materialize if I continued my use with alcohol. My 28-day inpatient stay was a Godsend which save my life. The most important thing I would tell other alcoholics who are really trying to live a alcohol free life is to be honest with youself and receive treatment.
