I would test

all these kids commenting that its ok to use any drug, legal or otherwise. sad. no excuse. what do you know at your age? still liing with your parents, you want to do what you want but not suffer the consequence. at 44 i know. i have lived and watched my marriage suffer because of spice. well no is the expert you kids seem to want to damage your lives. the truth is what it is. you want what you want. no one can tell you what to do. but in the end you want others to clean up the mess. well. test the hell out of em../

Mom in with son in the hospital

I want everyone to know what this can do to you. I received a phone call that my son was taking to the emergency room. I watched my son lay on a bed unresponsive for over 2 hours. All he could do was show tears. He then finally was able to open his eyes and a half hour later talk. His friend and him had no idea that it would do this. Luckily his friend didn't have this same reaction and was able to save my son. The doctor told me that he has seen kids die from this due to the body going into a deeper coma and they stop breathing. Others like my son come out of it sooner. If you want to end up like my son then continue using this stuff. Just a little bit of knowledge from someone who has experienced it. Also, it did not show up on any drug test that was ran. If it were not for his friend being honest with me when I asked we would never have known what he did.

Life

Im not sure about some of these responses and I agree with others. The truth is aspirin is bad for you that snack cake you stuffed in your mouth is not any better. Walking down the street can get ya killed and being pro constitution can get you locked up in a FEMA camp now too. Pot should be legal but it's not. The stuff they are dumping in our food and water should be illegal but it's not. You parents out there need to relax a little becasue the truth is your kids are gonna do what they want regaurdless of pee testing or not. Sometimess this life is too much and we just wanna get high and relax. I agree some of that stuff is bad news but not all of it and I have never had a detox from it. Just legalize the pot and roll one with your teenager I promise you will like each other alot more.

Hmm.

I hate parents that use that b.s. line "my kids live under my roof and I am responsible so blah blah blah..." They live under your roof because of the decision you made to have sex and procreate. I am pretty sure if they could do as they see fit they would leave your crazy dictatorship of a household. Get a grip on reality folks. Teens have, drink, and try drugs. It is a part of growing up. Relax and let them be because soon enough they won't live under your roof and they will resent you for your insane attitudes and opinions about life.

A mother

When ever the heck I want to, it is my home and you are my child!

ehh

I am eighteen years old and have used this legal stuff yall are discussing. It sucks. Im layin in a bed. Yawning on and off. My heart feels as if its getting stabbed. I have trouble taking a deep breath. Its horrible stuff. I guess you can say its the detox of it. Because its been 4days since ive used it. Marijuana should be legalized. Its illegal an i could get it with a phone call. You get caught with it. You get fined. And whatever else. Not to mention jail. Which tax payers support! They would make

Not leagle in Pa.

Our state has made all synthetic marijuana as a drug that is not legal.

Legalize Marijuana and it all goes away

Pretty simple. People want to get high and have been since the dawn of man. If you havn't figured it out by now then your hopelessly ignorant because the only reason these chemicals are being used is because weed is illegal. You want all of this to go away legalize weed, period. Otherwise science will always be 5 steps ahead of the law. People don't care about their health as much as they are about their buzz. We have only one life so enjoy it anyway you want. The drug companies kill people everyday. They leave out vital information on drugs that results in massive lawsuits all the time but yet no one questions them. Ive lost people to prescriptions and yet haven't i found any one to die from these new chemicals. Ive been a daily user for 3 years. Ive tried so many chemicals its crazy. I know the side effects and the complications that arrive from them. I choose to use them because weed is illegal. And i will continue as long as it stays that way. I stand with the millions of others who want to be left alone to live as God intended. Free will.

What?

So basically you're saying you have no proof it's bad but don't do it. Complete waste of an article.

Reasonable

First, in all of these responses, none of you have replied that testing is a parent's right to do. My children live under my roof, they will abide by my rules, and live the way I see fit to raise them. It's my job to protect them. I reserve the right to test anyone who lives under my roof, that I am raising, whose life I am responsible for. You all think these 'natural' substances are safe, you're wrong. The truth is, and if you'd do your research you'd know this, there is no evidence they are neither safe or dangerous. There is not enough evidence to prove either side is correct at this point. Doctors, scientists, and people who've used the 'drug' have indeed confirmed they mess with the body's immune system and brain function. Drugs that do this, even medicinally, have side effects on the user. If you don't know what it does to the body. Don't use it! You can cause more damage than you know what to do with. Parents, know what your kids are doing. Test them. It's your job!

Kids' behaviour

I know my kids well. Any erratic changes in behavior [would prompt drug testing].

Your stupid tests

I actually cannot believe there are people out there who would actually be concerned with legal weed and the only reason I can really think why is that they don't know what the hell they are talking about and probably haven't ever done anything like it in their life. They just operate stupid sites saying that it's bad for the human populace. If you want an opinion on the matter then light some up and don't rely on your stupid tests. The truth is everything has side effects and legal weed honestly should be the least of everyone's concerns.

How bad is marijuana?

Just want to say I am all for Guest JJ's comment. So maybe we, as a society can ask ourselves, how bad is marijuana?? Personally I think alcohol should be outlawed instead. P.S. Spice is a major high, but makes marijuana not so grand if you are using both. And 'detox' from Spice is ridiculously painful, unlike marijuana!

No moral panic here

I have an issue with the last part of this article because it pushes the arguement away from logic and uses an appeal to fear. "Does "2-[(1R,3S)-3-hydroxycyclohexyl]-5-(2-methyloctan-2-yl)phenol)" sound natural to you?" This is nothing more than the IUPAC name assigned to the molecule, and offers no insight to the possible effects of the compound. Does 1,3,7-trimethyl- 1H-purine- 2,6(3H,7H)-dione sound natural or is it a new superdrug? Don't worry, it's only caffeine which is quite natural and relatively safe in moderation . There are many poisons found in nature like tetrodotoxin, lead, mercury, urushiol(poison ivy active). I'm not advocating the use of K2 but we can at least stick to what we know rather than saying "it's a drug, it must be bad so lets put whatever rumor we hear about it out there as truth. As far as adminstering a drug test to your child, I'd say get a life. If you are truly worried about you child's drug use then talk to them about it.

think about it people..

you shouldnt be so caught up with natural weed.. when their are stuff that actually harms your body, very bad out there, that kids are doing just to get high off of. kids go out of their ways to get high, and will do things such as huff gas, or huff dust remover..would you rather them be doing that because that wont show up on a drug test than smoking natural grass? we'd rather be drug testing our children at home so they wont smoke weed, knowing that they obviously like to feel good.. so by that we know if thats so, keep in mind that they will go out of their way to get high, and get high off of things that are far worse for your body than a little plant from earth.. know by drug testing them, you just might be putting their health in more of a dangerous situation. drug testing them, yes.. will indeed keep them from smoking weed, who wants to be grounded, right? but their just going to find more dangerous things to get high off. you want that?
